The Secret of the Subjunctive:
🔥 Indicative = TO DECLARE | Subjunctive = TO PROJECT
With the indicative, you talk about events in reality (what is). With the subjunctive, imagine you have a projector, not of light, but of sounds; and with them, you project your emotions, your desires, your fears, your doubts, and other qualities of language onto other people or things.
1. The Indicative: DECLARAR (To Declare)
The indicative is used to DECLARE actions, objective and concrete facts. That is, to affirm or express something clearly and explicitly as a reality.
2. The Subjunctive: PROYECTAR (To Project)
The subjunctive expresses subjectivity. It serves to PROJECT human qualities (will, emotion, influence, and others) onto the actions of others. We do not declare reality, we project an emotion, feeling, or possibility.
